ANTEVISION OF THE 14TH JOURNEY – INTERVIEW WITH ANDRÉ DARA
“More thirsty than ever”

This Saturday, at 9:30 p.m., the Maia Basket / Escape Forte opens the year 2017, receiving the Ponte Sôr Tram in the game to count for the 14th day of the Placard League. The first-leg away game had a positive outcome (75-81 victory), so this match represents the perfect opportunity to return to the triumphs.

In the preview to this game we went to talk with André Dara, captain of the senior team of Maia Basket that already counts 7 seasons to wear red and blue.

Dara, in the game of the first round in front of the Tram also you were the interviewee, hopefully it is a good harbinger again. At the time you said that we would have all the conditions to emerge victorious from this duel. Our team is experiencing a moment of change due to the change of head coach. Do you think the ideas of the new coach João Oliveira are already assimilated and that we have conditions to repeat the positive result?

Of course yes. We are going to play at home, we are facing a team that we have already won this season and although we are in a moment of change, we are more thirsty than ever to return to the victories. So I think we have all the conditions to come out victorious at the end of the meeting. It’s obvious that any process of assimilating new ideas is a protracted process that will only really get consolidated later, however, I think the team is able to quickly absorb all the concepts and guidelines that the new coach is implementing.

The Tram is a team we already know well. What do we need to do to lead them astray?

In the first place, it is essential to enter the game with maximum concentration (in what will be the game plan) and to have maximum intensity and commitment from the first to the last second of the game. It will also be necessary to be very competent defensively, to condition the strongest points of the opponent to the maximum, namely in the external launch, the offensive rebound and the fast transitions, as well as being intelligent enough to be able to monetize our best weapons in the attack, taking advantage of all The opponent’s defensive weaknesses. However, I believe that the will to win will be preponderant in order to achieve our goal.

Ano novo, vida nova!!!
